Mark Hancock

Inspector Mark Hancock is currently the officer in charge of Investigative Services at the RCMP Wood Buffalo Detachment in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Hancock has been a member of the RCMP since March 1992 where he has served in a variety of postings largely on Canada’s east coast.

Hancock was promoted to Inspector in February 2015 and became the Operations Officer for the Wood Buffalo Detachment. His duties also include emergency planning, and as such he was extensively involved in all facets of public safety operations in response to the Fort McMurray wildfires in 2016.

Hancock holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Acadia University in his hometown of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and was awarded the Police Exemplary Service Medal in 2012.
